Robert Mallet Stevens

Robert Mallet Stevens (1891-1983)

Born in Paris he received his first and fundamental artistic training whitin the family circle from his father, Maurice Mallet, an art expert.

In the period between finishing his studieds and the beginnig war Stevens Orients himself towards a career has an interior designer.

Contemporaneously he worked has an architect and theorized resarch projects in keppeing with the modern wave of tought which was matiruing in Paris as well as in the rest of europe.

In 1924 he entered the "Ecole Spèciale" where he presented the De Stijl Group among other, at the years and exibition.
At the "International exibition of decorative and Industrial modernal art" and in Paris in 1925, Mallet Stevens exibited 5 projects of different nature.

In 1930 he become founder and president of the "Union of modern artists" and was a member of the Directing commiitee of the architectural magazine "Aujourd'hud".

One of his ideas was forniture, applied arts, have no technical reason for changing.
It is the architecture in general inspires the form of the so called decorative arts.
